Until recently it was possible for many people to live their entire lives without knowing anyone with a developmental disability. This lack of understanding can foster stereotypes, fear, and discrimination. Through activities such as presentations to civic groups, puppet shows for school children, and a disability awareness expo. The Network helps the community understand how people with disabilities can be contributing members of society. This opens the door to full community participation.
