When a family first hears that their child has a developmental disability, there are many feelings which must be dealt with. The Network’s Parent - to - Parent program has a “network” of trained parents who will volunteer their time, energy and emotional support to help the family in need. A match is made with families who have children with similar disabilities.
Mission Statement"Guiding families through their journey by connecting families with other families and support systems."
What We Offer
Free and Confidential
Our GoalParent-to-Parent's goal is to fill the void. The program is simple: parents of children with disabilities are matched with trained volunteers in similar situations. Mentoring Parents do not provide all of the answers, but do provide insight. Our Mentors receive a step-by-step guide that enables them to help others who are living a life similar to theirs. Mentoring Parents can be role models by sharing their joy and pride in the achievements for their own child. Mentors also feel satisfaction and delight in helping other parents. Parents share their experiences with each other about resources, doctors, and their feelings, and find that they are no longer alone. By contacting the Network, a mentor will contact you within 72 hours. This mentor will help your family with concerns at the moment and follow-up with more support, resources, and information. Sometimes the matches are long-term, others are simply for information or resources for the moment. But whatever the need, the Network is working for families. The Network also works with parent groups across the state and nation, trying to make a difference in the lives of families. Contact us today about becoming a mentor or for support! Remember, it's free and confidential!
